Continue follows a girl suffering from depression who is forced to get her life together when she is taken involuntarily to a mental institution after trying to follow in her father’s footsteps but failing in her suicide attempt. She finds unlikely friends, unwavering love, and a life she never imagined possible for a girl like her. All to find out that some decisions can’t be undone. You only get one life.
Based on actual events from filmmaker Nadine Crocker’s life and surviving a suicide attempt at a young age, Continue hopes to inspire and shed an honest light on mental health, depression, and suicide prevention.
Crocker told BWiFF in December 2023 that she created Continue to make people feel and find gratitude for their own lives. “I want to change the world in the small way I can while on this planet through the only means I know how: my art,” said Crocker. “The world has been divided and people are feeling isolated. Suicide rates have skyrocketed. The suicide hotline and text line can’t keep up with the demand of callers they are receiving. So I know the world needs Continue and its message now more than ever.”
The film stars Nadine Crocker and Shiloh Fernandez, and also featuring Emily Deschanel.
The BWiFF 2024 Beyond official selection will released by Lionsgate Films and Grindstone Entertainment on September 6, 2024 in select theaters. Keep an eye out for showtimes at your local cinema coming soon.
