Festival alumnus Mike Flanagan will be presenting the United States Premiere of his latest film at Fantastic Fest 2017 in Austin, Texas. Flangan’s latest is an adaptation of Stephen King’s Gerald’s Game. The story follows a married couple attempting to reinvigorate their sex life with the use of handcuffs. But when Jessie Burlingame, Gerald’s wife, is handcuffed to the bed and begins to protest, Gerald ignores her and ends up getting knocked from the bed and on to the floor where he suffers a heart attack and dies. Jessie is then left alone, unable to move, and with no one to help.
Gerald’s Game will feature Carla Gugino in an undoubtedly tour-de-force, considering her previous work, and Bruce Greenwood. The film is expected to be released on Netflixbefore the end of the year. The 13th annual Fantastic Fest will run September 21 -28, 2017.
