Life As A Strawberry has brought us one of the greatest joys of summer. Three words: Blackberry, Whiskey, Lemonade. If summertime could be sipped out of a glass this would be it.

This recipe is a little bit more intensive with a blackberry simple syrup but trust us it’s definitely worth it. To start you’ll need to make the blackberry simple syrup

Blackberry Simple Syrup:

  • 12 oz. fresh blackberries
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup water

Combine in a small saucepan and simmer over medium heat for about 20 minutes until your syrup is nice and thick. Just a heads up this stuff is delicious and will make your kitchen smell like heaven (there may have been a few samples pre-cocktail…). Strain the reduction to get the lumps and seeds out and get ready for cocktail time!

You’ll need:

  • 1 cup whiskey
  • 1 cup lemon juice
  • 1 large rosemary sprig
  • 3/4 cup blackberry simple syrup
  • 1 cup tonic water or sparkling wine (optional)

This makes a bigger batch but if you’re looking to just make one drink it’s a 1:1:1 ratio. If you’re making the full batch you may have to break it down into two shakers. Add whiskey, lemon juice, rosemary, and blackberry simple syrup into a shaker. Make sure the lid in on tight because if that sucker slips it will look like a scene out of Carrie, trust us (there may have been a mishap in the test kitchens). Strain into a glass over ice and top with tonic water or sparkling wine for a nice fresh fizz!

Cheers!
