Film Festival Day 2020 will unite audiences from across North America for a virtual screening of the independent film Phoenix, Oregon followed by a filmmaker Q&A.

Defying midlife haze, two friends – a graphic novelist and a chef, seize an unlikely opportunity to reinvent their lives by quitting their jobs to restore an old bowling alley and serve the “world’s greatest pizza.” The film takes a comedic look at the existential crisis many face when trying to find meaning and relevancy at midlife. Despite controlling bosses, dead-end jobs, and broken relationships, the two leads must awaken hibernating courage and resilience in order to take new risks and keep their dreams alive.

The film features James Le Gros, Lisa Edelstein, Jesse Borrego, Reynaldo Gallegos, Diedrich Bader, and Kevin Corrigan. Written and directed by Gary Lundgren. Produced by Annie Lundgren and Luis Rodriguez.

Movies unite us in a way that no other art form can and film festivals play an essential role in connecting out community to support the works of independent storytellers. As a result of COVID-19, more than 175 film festivals across North America have been canceled or postponed. Please join us in a celebration of our communities, our audiences, independent filmmakers, and what makes the film festival experience so unique.
